Kinsmap: A New Way to Visualize Your Family Tree
Kinsmap is a free Android app developed by Harald Unander. It is in the Social & Communication category and offers a new and exciting way to present your family tree. With interactive ancestry and descendancy fan charts, you can gain new insights into your family history, and maps reveal your relatives' migrations over time. The app also allows you to import your GEDCOM file from your preferred genealogy program, and your family tree will appear like you have hardly seen it before.
One of the unique features of Kinsmap is the Kins Wheel, where you can see your relatives and zoom in, pan, and rotate it. You can choose to see either ancestors or descendants and search for individuals and put them in the center. The app also offers color coding of cells to show pedigree collapse and birthplaces on maps to follow migration over generations. The free version of Kinsmap includes all basic and premium features, but charts for family trees with more than 250 persons are displayed with reduced brightness.
